Travels
of Snoopy
Page
Four
Moab, Utah
Trip...November, 1999
[Kansas, Colorado & Utah]
Now you get
to come along with Snoopy
We "be-jeeping" now!!!
Snoopy is the first to cross Dirty Devil
River in a number of years...The crossing looks easy, but one has to take
"care". Water can get into the engine, transfer case,
differentials, etc. If such happens; then you have a major problem(s).
AAA does not make house calls in this part of the country. You ride in and
walk out, and it's L O N G walk
back to Hanksville...
At this time "things" are not looking good for
Snoopy...Thanks to the ARB Lockers front and rear differentials,
plus a 9,000 lb Warn Winch, Snoopy was able to get out of this one!!!
Minus four star dinning...told you this is not New
Orleans...Just think of the money that has been spent on Snoopy so we can eat
like this...
Worth every cent!!! Dirty Devil
River in the back ground...This is the area where Butch Cassidy and his gang
found refuge...the rugged canyon country of "Roberts' Roost"...
Yep, in the background you can see
the way "out" of the canyon...
Damn, Snoopy's belly gets to close to
the ground...
Thanks to the Warn winch...once again
we are "out and on our way...
Out and on our way...ONLY to find
this, we made it across this wash out. Six foot deep, this was only one of
MANY to come, some of were much deeper...
Night fall is coming...what was fun,
has now turned into WORK. After over 38 miles of trail, we ran into a
major landside area with boulders as large or larger than Snoopy. We had
to make the choice to return back through the area we worked so hard to travel all day.
Only this time it was a NIGHT, this only proved the point that there is no way
that you can have too many lights on your Jeep...
Snoopy is out of harms way now, safe
[tired, dusty at the motel]...the next page Snoopy visits the Maze area...
Quote from the National Parks "Only Adventurous and experienced travelers
will want to visit this rugged land west of the Green and Colorado
Rivers"...
We will find out if the National Park
Service is correct...I can detect no concern in Snoopy's eyes, he looks like
this is the place that he is looking for...
